Cairns Wedding Photographer

Real moments. Cinematic light. From the ground to the sky.

I am a Cairns-based wedding photographer combining natural, candid storytelling with cinematic portraits and dramatic light. Gardens, waterfront and city venues offer different possibilities; a thoughtful timeline makes space for photographs and for enjoying your wedding.

Pullman Cairns International

A central hotel with indoor and outdoor wedding spaces, including ballroom reception options. Keeping preparation and reception in one place can simplify the day. Ask the events team about the ceremony setting, a wet-weather option and access for portraits.

Planning for tropical light

The sun sets inland towards the mountains, not over the Coral Sea. Choose portrait locations for the actual light, not only the view. Softer afternoon light, shaded greenery and optional flash after dusk give different looks.

A relaxed photography timeline

Preparations; ceremony; congratulations and family groups; a short couple session as light softens; reception; optional dusk portrait if conditions and agreed coverage allow. Build in walking, transport and time with guests.

Choosing your photo locations

A strong wedding gallery does not need a long list of stops. Garden paths can give depth and softer light; waterfront settings bring open sky and a sense of place; hotel architecture can provide clean lines and sheltered portrait options. Choose one or two settings that suit your venue and allow enough time to walk, settle in and enjoy them. For a beach setting, Palm Cove offers a different feel from the central Cairns waterfront. The right choice depends on your date, transport and the look you want, rather than a promise that every location will work in every condition. Keep your ceremony booking separate from portrait permissions and ask before entering private spaces.

Planning from interstate

Confirm where each part of your wedding takes place before booking transport and accommodation. Staying close to the ceremony or reception can reduce transfers, but allow a buffer for guests arriving from elsewhere. Share the venue run sheet with your photographer so family photographs, travel and the best available light work together.

Heat, rain and backup plans

Arrange water, shade and a covered ceremony/portrait option with your booked venue. Adjust to safe conditions; do not assume access to another hotel or private location.

My approach

Candid documentary storytelling, gentle portrait direction and cinematic off-camera lighting when appropriate. Drone photography and social-media film depend on agreed coverage; drone additionally depends on airspace, permissions, weather and safety.
